Lushington Entertainments proudly announces the triumphant return of SIGUR ROS following their inaugural show in 2006, which was voted one of the best concerts that year by HK Magazine. Named in part after a sister of one of the bandmembers, Reykjavik, Iceland's SIGUR ROS (Victory Rose) was formed by guitarist and vocalist Jon Thor “Jonsi” Birgisson, bassist Georg Holm, and drummer Agust. They debuted with Von in 1997, followed by a remix collection Recycle Bin. Kjartan Sveinsson joined the band on keyboards and the band recorded 1999's Agatis Byrjun. Agust’s departure was replaced by Orri Pall DyRason. Svefn-G-Englar was hailed as NME's Single of the Week that year with much hype in the UK and also US. The “Ny Battery” single was issued in early 2000, the band's break-out year. ( ), SIGUR ROS third album, was released in 2002. In 2005, they issue Takk..., and in 2008, Med Sud I Eyrum Vid Spilum Endalaust. During their hiatus, Jonsi launched a solo career, collaborating with boyfriend Alex Somers on 2009's Riceboy Sleeps, then releasing 2010's Go under his own name and recording "Sticks and Stones" for the soundtrack of How to Train Your Dragon. In October 2011, they released their first live album, Inni. Their 6th studio album, Valtari (Steamroller), was released in May 2012.
In an interview, the band used adjectives like “ambient,” “introverted,” “floaty,” and “minimal” to describe the album’s sound. Speaking with Q, bassist Georg Holm added that the album lives up to its title – ‘steamroller’ in English. “The music kind of just rolls over you. In a good way,” he explained. It will be seven years since their first show in Hong Kong, but it is well worth the wait.
